June 28, 2016 | Stay in Softball Night with the Racers
We held our first SIS Night with the Akron Racers at the June 28th Racers game against the PA Rebellion. The purpose of the event was to support both the Racers and Stay in Softball.
Through the Racers' charity program, half of the $7 ticket price of general admission tickets purchased using the Stay in Softball code was donated back to Stay in Softball to help fund our programs. In addition to getting to watch a great game- and a Racer win- all attending with the SIS code received free popcorn, a free raffle entry and chances to win one of many prizes including gift bags, t shirts and other softball items. The winner of the new Louisville Slugger LXT bat was Tayler Cassidy of the Ohio Outlaws (who is also a SIS volunteer).
Stay in Softball also held a used equipment drive before the game and handed out free stickers and information to Racers fans about our programs. SIS volunteers and program participants also threw out first pitches and served as bat girls. SIS was also able to donate free tickets to the Akron Buchtel softball program so their families could enjoy the game with us. Another great addition to the night was our supporters from The Softball Zone (www.thesoftballzone.com), Ricky Moorehead and Jeff Baker, coming to host a tailgate and broadcasting the Racers game live on The Softball Zone Radio Show. Ricky had a host of free prizes including Softball Zone t shirts and stickers. It was great to see softball fans come together on a beautiful night to support professional softball and our programs.
We would like to thank the following organizations for supporting the event by buying tickets: Valley Extreme, Pinnacle Elite, Ohio Wolfpack, Lady Lookouts, WWAST, and the Lady Bombers. We also want to thank the Racers for their charity program, supporting youth softball and for giving NE Ohio the chance to watch professional softball all summer long!
